  • Joshua Vance is showing " Louisville-Portraits", a series of paintings depicting "Slugger-City" through the eyes of a native son. When Josh first started bringing his paintings to my gallery, I was very impressed with both him as an artist as well as his work. As an artist, what impressed me was his ability to accept criticism both good and bad (although there's not too much negative to say about his work) and also the man's work ethic. Josh is a painter. Not only are his paintings exquisite in their execution, his use of color theory and balance as well as sheer technique are rapidly bringing him a lot of attention with both other painters here in town as well as local collectors.
     
    Steve Gilberts is also showing his show, "The Audacity of Bubblegum Mechanics", which is sure to delight all who enjoy a little of the macabre in their art. Steve is a very accomplished painter who so far has made quite a name for himself in the horror/sci-fi realm and to his credit can boast many, many magazine covers through some very good publications. A quick visit to his website, www.stevengilberts.com (which I HIGHLY recommend), will show this to be true. Steve not only has produced cover art for magazines such as Black Petals, Corpse Magazine, and Dark Wisdom Magazine, but he has also illustrated for David Lee Summer's "Vampires of the Scarlett Order" (available through LBF Press) and for Kealan Patrick Burke's "The Master of the Moors" (available through Necessary Evil Press) to name but a few.
