  • Translated, Quincy's show "Les Femmes Avant" means "The Women Before".  In his new work Quincy Owens has strived to show the viewer how past experiences always shape our present.  While Quincy is NOT reflecting on loves lost, he is using the title as a reference point that all true artists can agree on.  While life's lessons are not always black and white experiences, an artist is usually able to look back on his or her progress with far more definition perhaps than the average individual.  While Quincy is not noting positives or negatives of yesterday, he is in fact giving a very simple explanation for a very complex process.  This allows the viewer to begin understanding the work with one very simple focal point.  From there, the individual can take or leave whatever he or she wants.
